Duke bags a hat-trick as Knox hit cruise control

Knox Academy U15s kicked off their season on Saturday with a comfortable win over derby rivals Dunbar at Hallhill.

It was a damp and drizzly morning in Dunbar for Knox Academy U15's first game of the season in a local derby which in recent years has been very close. Knox took control of the game early on and it wasn’t long before they put the first points on the scoreboard with Simon Duke crossing the line from short range. Duke was over the line again within minutes of his first try, but the referee awarded a penalty to the home team denying him a quick brace.

However, the Knox forward pack were becoming dominant and winning most scrums and lineouts against a smaller and lighter Dunbar pack so it wasn't long before Aarron Thomson got the ball in space and crashed over for his team's second try. Straight from the kick off, Gregor Booth caught the ball and broke and after some superb offload play, Daniel Sked broke clear for his team's third try. Booth then got his own name on the score sheet as he darted over from close range to bring the first half to a close.

Half time - Dunbar 0 : Knox 22

The second half saw the Knox pack becoming more dominant setting up two tries for Duke, another try each for Booth and Thompson and a final try by James Dewar to end the game.

A good result to start the season, but plenty still for the coaches to work on.

Final score - Dunbar 0 : Knox 51
