As most people will be aware, about 6 or 7 weeks ago, the committee of Haddington RFC asked a group of five people to form a Review Board. Those five people were

David Laidlaw – Chairman of the Review Board – past President of Haddington RFC

Peter Brownlee – Chairman of Haddington RFC Rugby Board – Vice President Haddington RFC

Clifford Livingstone – Director of Rugby – Haddington RFC

Grant McKelvey – Senior Regional Academy Mgr at Scottish Rugby, past Captain Haddington RFC (Independent)

Eamon John – past Scottish U20 coach and Head of Healthy Living Service at East Lothian Council (Independent)

The Review Board have conducted several tasks in trying to ascertain what we, as a club, are doing right and, more importantly, what we are doing wrong. They have surveyed recent past players, current players , from midi up to senior level, coaches, supporters , parents and other interested parties. They have also spoken to other prominent members of successful clubs to try to gauge what we can do better.

On Thursday of this week, the Review Board presented their findings to the Management Committee. Unsurprisingly, there were several positives that came out of the surveys, but also a few negatives. The management committee are currently digesting the findings of the Review and will meet again very soon, to discuss these findings and our way forward.

It is our intention to make the presentation from the Review Board available to all, including hopefully, on the website and projected onto a screen in the clubhouse at Saturday’s home game against Lasswade.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those people who responded to questionnaires. The information gained from this exercise has been invaluable and it is now up to the management committee to implement an action plan based on the information received, in the main, from our members.

I would also like to thank David, Peter, Clifford, Grant and Eamon for all their time and effort put into conducting this review.

Andrew Cunningham
President
