Haddington RFC is proud to congratulate Joss Arnold, a product of our minis and School of Rugby, who it was announced today is one of three winners of The Macphail Rugby Scholarship.

This will see Joss spend five months at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, one of the world’s great rugby nurseries.

Joss is the second recipient of the scholarship from our own rugby nursery, following Fin Gillies in 2010 who went on to play professionally for Glasgow and represent Scotland at Under 18, 19, 20 and Sevens before injury cut short his playing career.

The Macphail Scholarship was established in 2005, as a partnership between The Robertson Trust and Scottish Rugby.

Created in memory of ex-Scotland Internationalist John Macphail (1949-1951), the scholarship was developed for talented young players and has supported current internationals Finn Russell, Grant Gilchrist, George Turner and Jonny Gray.

Joss is therefore following in some fantastic footsteps.
