Peeps into the Past

Peeps into the Past

Webmaster Web Master28 Oct 2021 - 15:06

(And Present!)

This week’s Peeps into the Past sees no fewer than nine of the trophy winning team of 1969-1970, bring the team photo into the present.

An absolute belter of a “Before and After” !

The occasion was the “Annual Old Goats XV v Old Father Time XV match” or lunch for our over 75s.

No fewer than 13 of we believe the 23 surviving Old Goats were in attendance.

For the record:
Back Row: Finlay Guy
Second Row: Frank Strang and Grant Moncrieff
Front Row: Robin Skea (too young for the lunch but in attendance as a ballboy), Ronnie Skea, Dick Short (Captain), Davie Leckie, Hugo Erskine, Alec Paterson

As always a great time was had by all, with tales told and friendships rekindled.

In a toast to absent friends, the “Last of the Last of The Summer Wine” John Higgenbotham unveiled a framed photo of his former gang of five old goats.

“But we hae meat and we can eat, and sae the lord be thankit” was surely another toast since all the pie was eaten.

The best day in the Calendar.

Anyone who is about to newly qualify should contact Keith Wallace for next season.

Hoping that the young “Kid Goats” 1st team which served up a fine win for the old Goats are around to reprise this in 2073!
