Following their great success last season with an 8 from 11 win rate, wins over the 2nds and the Colts, and a great show in the Beer Olympics, the Mighty 3rds are back.

I am delighted that Keith "The Kitty Maestro" Dickson has been elected as player manager, which should at least ensure clean strips and avoidance of any beer vacuums.

A full set of fixtures are in place in the East League 3A, against some of the usual suspects and a few new ones.

First game is 1st September away to old friends, some very, Murrayfield Wanderers, who will be smarting from their series loss in the last game of the season, and their slipshod showing in the Beer Olympics.

A game with a few Usain bolts is on the cards on the ultrafast 3G pitch, followed by some tall tales, high jinks, long beers, short memories, and more lactic acid than Chris Hoy and Mo Farah put together.

With over 60 players donning the jersey last season, and more games this year, we will need a big squad the more the merrier.

We also hope that with numbers at training higher than we have seen for several seasons we should see several players promoted from the 2nds and the 1sts.
