It was the Reds' first outing since hosting their own tournament a fortnight ago and head coach Bryan Craig was forced into a couple of squad changes from that day.
Callum Champion and Kris Paterson dropped out, and were replaced by Calum Cockburn and Ben Laing in the 10-man squad.
The Reds sailed through their first two ties, beating Dick Vet and Hawick Harlequins to comfortably reach the knockout stages.
Those victories were resounding, and even brought a brilliant solo try from club captain Garry Cockburn, who beat the defence to go 80 metres and score despite the attention of a covering defender.
Despite negotiating the pool stages without too many problems, Craig's squad were left somewhat frustrated by their two-hour wait to face local rivals Musselburgh in the last four.
When they did, though, it proved to be a cracking match with Euan Herkes' two tries proving vital for the Reds.
Big tackling from the Cockburn brothers, Garry and Calum, along with some superb breakdown work by Mike Legget took the Reds to the final, where they would face the hosts.
By now, Craig's charges had hit their straps and were playing some superb 7s rugby.
Kyle Adams and Paul McClung provided pace out wide, while James Ferguson kept the side ticking over from stand-off.
However, it was the defensive effort in the final that took the club to victory.
Superb tackles from McClung and the elder Cockburn brother really stood out as the visitors claimed the top prize, and prevented the home side from making it back-to-back victories.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable day for the travelling Haddington squad.
