The Reds' head coach didn't pull any punches post-match, and said: "We were our own worst enemy today - that was the worst we've played since I've been coaching here.

"We didn't see any sign of what we'd been trying to put together in training and even when we had chances, we didn't take them."

The Reds went into the match in bouyant mood having defeated Hawick YM (82-5) and near neighbours Dunbar 20-7 in their last outings.

However they were unable to build any momentum in the shadows of the national stadium, as Craig was left to ponder poor set-piece errors.

"We really struggled at the scrum, where we had no real platform to get the ball to our backs.

"They were far more committed than us and got to the breakdown first and in greater numbers."

However, the Reds head coach was quick to praise the efforts of returning lock Ross Martin, who proved ferocious in defence, while Kris Paterson and captain Garry Cockburn battled for 80 minutes.

However it was to be disappointment for the visitors who were unable to cross the whitewash.

The club finish fifth in RBS Championship B, and will compete in the new Premier Three next season - a credible finish, but not on the terms they would have liked.
