Captain Alex Watt bagged himself a hat-trick as the 2nds continued their good run with an impressive home win over Dunfermline on Saturday.

The Reds skipper scored his trio of tries either side of half-time, rounding off a pair of wonderful team moves before capitalising on an overlap to complete his hat-trick.

It was another impressive display from James Weddell's side, aided by impressive performances from Charlie Hamilton and Callum Elliot in the pack, while the free-running Andrew's - Clark and Symington, caused problems in midfield.

The Reds were never in danger of losing the match against the league's bottom-placed side, although the Fifers dug in well throughout and performed admirably in defence.

Despite a comfortable 50-7 victory, the Reds were disappointed with their performance, admitting that discipline had been a problem throughout the encounter.

Hooker Rab Watt was sent to the sin-bin early in the second half, and was quickly followed by firstly Hamilton, and then replacement Alan Bell.

The Reds, though, had too much fire-power for their visitors and, with Alex Ferguson and Jamie Paterson again pulling the strings at half-back, they cruised to victory.

Good handling from Ferguson and Andrew Clark put captain Watt away for his first score which got the Reds on the board early on, and they never looked back.

Symington, with good handling and superb footwork, helped himself to a couple of scores, while debutante flanker James Clark also impressed with his strong running, and opened his Haddington account late on.

It was another impressive win for the 2nd XV, who move to second in the table ahead of next weekend's trip to Forrester.
