The club's second-string blew away Murrayfield Wanderers 3rd XV in the opening quarter of an hour in the shadows of the national stadium yesterday, en route to an impressive 76-5 win.
The mercurial Alex Ferguson again pulled the strings from stand-off, and was joined at half-back by stand-in skipper Stuart Miller, while Mike Legget and Mark Morrison provided a wealth of experience in the pack.
There was also a return to action in the midfield for Jock MacKay, who performed well outside Ferguson - setting up three second-half tries before being harshly denied one of his own.
There was another try for the impressive Rab Watt, amongst a string of superb front-row performances. Young tighthead Kenny Harper was awarded man-of-the-match, while veteran Robin Mainstone was dynamic in the set-piece.
It became difficult to keep track of try scorers whilst in the middle of the second row - but there was definitely a pair of tries for the impressive captain Miller.
Last season's top try scorer Ewan Chalmers also made a return to the scoresheet having drawn a blank last weekend while only a last-minute try from the home side blotted James Weddell's side's copybook for the afternoon.
All in all, worthy victors but there will be much tougher tasks ahead - starting with the visit of Boroughmuir to Neilson Park this coming Saturday.
