The U16's saw their pre-season come to an end with victory at Preston Lodge HS on Saturday.
After 2 early tries, converted by Donald Bathgate, PL put the pressure on. Haddington were forced to defend in their own 22 for 10 metres, before a breakaway from Andrew Syme resulted in a third converted try.
The remaining 15 minutes of the first half were one sided, with Haddington scoring a further 3 tries, with a fourth conversion of the match for Donald Bathgate.
The second half was a lot more even, with PL playing some direct rugby. A few well worked tries stretched the score over the 50 mark. Haddington's defence held firm until the 60 minute mark when a chip kick from the PL fly-half rebounded kindly off the base of the post, and was touched down at the base of the post.
The match finished 57-5 to Haddington, with prop Stephen Tennant making a cameo kicking appearance to slot home the final conversion.
The boys have laid down a marker for the season.
